REPLACING REAR SPRING STRUT ABSORBER
When replacing a shock absorber, always use
one of same make.
To know whether a shock absorber has to be
replaced, it is necessary to check its condition
in the car with a shock absorber tester or
removed in a shock absorber testing machine¹).
Both shock absorbers of one axle should be
replaced together.

Remove and install rear coil spring - 33 53 000.
Take off support plate and extra spring with
protective cover tube.
Remove lower spring liner.
Installation: Check extra spring, protective
tube and string liner, replacing if necessary.

REPLACING SHOCK ABSORBER
Always replace a shock absorber with one of
same make.
Test shock absorbers installed in car with a
Shok Tester or removed in a shock absorber
testing machine* to determine whether a
shock absorber has to be replaced.
Both shock absorbers of one axle should be
replaced.
Remove and install spring strut assembly
33 52 100.
Important!
Always store shock absorbers standing upright.
Pull off cap (1).

Compress coil spring with Special Tool
31 3 111.
Unscrew nuts (2) and remove pivot plate.
Installation:
Tightening torque*.

Release coil spring.
Remove centering shell from coil spring.

Check rubber mount (4).

Pull off and check rubber damper.

Installed Order:
Lock nuts (2), washer (3), rubber mount
with gasket (4), cap (5), rubber damper (6)
with sleeve.
