Vehicles before change point in 1982
REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR SPRING STRUT
Lift car and support trailing arm from
underneath.
Detach spring strut from trailing arm.
Important: Spring strut absorber serves as
a retaining strap.
Installation: Tighten bolt with car in normal
position¹).

Detach centering shell from wheel house.
Installation: Torque values¹).
Replace self-locking nuts.

SPRING STRUT ASSEMBLY
Lift car and support trailing arm.
Detach spring strut at trailing arm.
Caution!
Spring strut acts as a retaining strap!
Installation:
Tighten bolt with car in normal position*.

Remove trunk trim partially.
Disconnect centering shell at wheel house.
Installation:
Tightening torque*.
Replace self-locking nuts.

Important!
Gasket (1)!

Important!
Always store shock absorbers standing upright.
If shock absorbers are stored laying down with
piston rods run in, this could cause noise when
installed in car.
Remedy:
Store shock absorbers with run out piston rods
at room temperature and standing upright for
24 hours.
