REMOVING AND INSTALLING DIFFERENTIAL
A) Drive Flange Version Without Mounting
Bolt:
Remove and install final drive - 33 10 010.
Unscrew oil drain plug and drain oil.
Mount final drive on Special Tool 33 1 060.
Pull off left and right drive flanges with
Special Tool 33 1 250.
Installation: Add oil¹).

Installation: Prior to installation of drive
flange, place wire snap ring (1) in groove of
differential case that both ends of snap ring
are recessed in groove. This will prevent
lateral bending of snap ring. Press in drive
flange by hand and turn it slightly, until
snap ring can be heard to engage.
Replace stretched snap rings.

Take off cover.
Check O-ring, replacing if necessary.
Installation: Torque values¹).

Remove differential assembly.
Installation: Check backlash¹), correcting
if necessary.
Check tooth contact pattern and, if necessary,
total frictional torque¹).

B) Drive Flange Version With Mounting Bolt:
Remove and install final drive - 33 10 010.
Unscrew oil drain plug and drain oil.
Mount final drive on Special Tool - 33 1 060.
Counterhold drive flange with Special Tool
33 1 100 and unscrew left and right mounting
bolts.
Installation: Torque values¹).
Add oil¹).

Pull off drive flanges with Special Tool 33 1 250.

Take off cover.
Check O-ring, replacing if necessary.
Installation: Torque values¹).

Remove differential assembly.
Installation: Install spacers in differential
prior to installation of same.
Check backlash¹), correcting if necessary.
Check tooth contact pattern and if
necessary, total frictional torque¹).
