Vehicles before change point in 1982 REMOVING AND INSTALLING POWER STEERING PUMP Disconnect hoses at power steering pump with Special Tool 32 4 100. Important: Never reuse escaped ATF. Detach pump at front. Installation: A correctly tightened standard belt should give under thumb pressure applied midway between two pulleys by 5 to 10 mm (0.197 to 0.394´´) and an open flank belt by 2 to 3 mm (0.080 to 0.120´´). Recheck tightness after test drive. Tightening torque¹). ¹) See Specifications

Vehicles after change point in 1982 REMOVING AND INSTALLING POWER STEERING PUMP Discharge pressure in reservoir by operating brake pedal about 20 times. Draw off hydraulic fluid in tank. Never reuse drained hydraulic fluid! Unscrew splash guard. Disconnect lines. Installation: Tightening torque*. Fill and bleed hydraulic system 32 13 006. * See Specifications 32 13 006

Loosen nut (1). Release drive belt by turning toothed element (2). Take off drive belt. |  |
Unscrew bolts and remove power steering pump. |  |
Installation: Tighten dirve belt before torqueing bolts. Tighten toothed element with 8 to 8.5 Nm (5.8 to 6.1 ft.lbs.) and lock. Check belt tightness with tester 11 5 .... Hook (4) rests on tip of tooth. |  |
