Vehicles before change point in 1982
DISASSEMBLING/ASSEMBLING POWER STEERING PUMP
Remove and install power steering pump
32 41 060.
Unscrew nut and take off pulley.

Press down cover with a press and remvoe snap
ring.
Important: Only press in cover far enough
that snap ring can be removed.

Clean housing at seat for cover to remove paint
and dirt.
Remove cover.

Remove spring (1) and O-ring (2).
Installation: Don´t mix up O-ring with O-ring
of face plate on cover end.

Remove cover end face plate with a pliers.
Installation: Install pin in borw of face plate.

Remove O-ring.
Remove cam with rotor and drive end face plate
by knocking against a flat support.
Installation: Recesses in face plate face rotor.

Installation: Half arrow on cam is cover end.
Chamfer of rotor faces drive shaft.
Ground sides of impeller face cam.
Important: Rotor and cam are always replaced
as a set.

Remove shaft seal (1) and circlip (2).
Press drive shaft and ball bearing out of housing.
Installation: Replace shaft seal.
Lubricate sealing lip of shaft seal with oil.

Remove snap ring and press ball bearing off of
drive shaft.
Installation: Watch installed direction - open
end of ball bearing faces housing when installed.

Remove plug with seal (1) and spring (2).
Installation: Don´t change thickness of seal (1)
and length of spring (2).

Remove valve piston.
Installation: Threads on valve piston face
spring.
Note tolerance group (1 or 2).
A pressure valve is located in valve piston (flow
limit valve).
Important: Don´t disassemble valve piston.

Clean housing.
Clean bores and restrictor with compressed air.
