Detach radiator hose and drain coolant. Installation: Fill and bleed cooling system 17 00 039. 17 00 039 | |
Detach and remove upper hoses. Unscrew fan shroud and mounting bolt. | |
Cars with Automatic Transmission: Unscrew oil feed line (7) and return line (8). Important: Escaping ATF! Installation: Blow out transmission oil cooler in side radiator section with compressed air immediately after removal and flush with ATF. | |
Unscrew fan shroud mounting bolt. Detach support and remove radiator. Installation: Holding land must be pressed on holding land of radiator. | |
Lift fan housing out of slots in radiator and rest it on fan wheel. Installation: Guide fan housing into slots. | |
Installation: Check rubber liners and replace them if necessary. | |
Vehicles after change point in 1982 REMOVING AND INSTALLING RADIATOR Unscrew cap on expansion tank. Unscrew drain plug (1) and drain coolant. Loosen hose clamp and pull off hose. Caution! Danger of scalding when engine is hot. | |

Pull off plugs on temperature switches. | |
Unscrew bolts (1). Loosen hose clamp and pull off hose. | |
Cars with Automatic Transmission: Unscrew oil line on radiator. Installation: Tightening torque*. Check ATF level, see 24 00 009. * See Specifications 24 00 009 | |
Unscrew mounting bolts on left and right sides. Lift out radiator. Installation: Position radiator on rubber mounts correctly. |
