CHECKING/REPLACING TEMPERATURE TIME SWITCH
The temperature time switch controls the opening
of the cold start valve while starting depending
on the coolant temperature.
The open time (max. 8 sec.) and switching off
temperature (+ 35°C/95°F) are stamped on a
hexagon.
Unscrew temperature time switch.
Installation: Check seal, replacing if necessary.
Tightening torque¹).
Fill and bleed cooling system 17 00 039.

Pull off wire plugs.
Connect Jetronic test lead 61 1 440 on temperature
time switch.
Check resistance between
red term. (W) and black term. (G),
red term. (W) and ground as well as
black term. (G) and ground
with an ohmmeter.

Removing and Installing:
Pull off plug (1).
Unscrew temperature time switch.
Installation:
Tightening torque*.

Check nominal value* with ohmmeter.
To check the entire temperature range, remove
and place temperature sensor in a water bath
heated to testing temperature.
Check resistance* with an ohmmeter.
