REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPRING STRUT
Remove and install front wheel 36 10 300.
Detach barcket at spring strut.

Detach and tie up caliper.
Brake lines and cables remain connected.
Installation: Tightening torque¹).

Remove lock wire.

Detach tie rod arm at spring strut.
Installation: Tightening torque¹).
Lock bolts with wire.

Detach spring strut mount at wheel house.
Remove spring strut.
Installation: Tightening torque¹).
Important: Store spring strut shock absorbers
standing upright.

SPRING STRUT ASSEMBLY
Remove front wheel - see 36 10 300.
Unscrew brake caliper and suspend from car with a piece of wire.
Brake line remains connected.
Installation:
Tightening torque*.

Left Side:
Lift plug out of clamp and rubber grommet out of holder.
Disconnect ground wire.
Disconnect plugs.

Remove ABS pulse sender.

Unscrew stabilizer push rod.
Counterhold with a narrow open-end wrench.
Installation:
Tightening torque*.

Clean threads of bores and bolts.
Lock bolts with bolt cement**.
Tightening torque*.

Support spring strut shock absorber.
Unscrew spring strut mount in wheel house.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque*.

Important!
Only store shock absorbers standing upright.
If shock absorbers are stored laying down with their piston rods run in, this could lead to
knocking noise when used again later.
Remedy:
Store shock absorbers standing upright with the piston rods run out at room
temperature for 24 hours.
