DISASSEMBLING/ASSEMBLING SYNCHRONIZATION
- Transmission Removed -
Disassemble output shaft 23 21 551.
Important: Replace synchromesh rings, if
distance between synchromesh ring and synchronizer
is less than 1.0 mm (0.040´´).
Measure this distance in area of stops.
This distance will be 1.0 to 1.4 mm (0.040 to
0.055´´) for new synchromesh rings.

Disassemble synchronizer.
Spring (1), thrust pad (2) and ball (3).

Installation: Install all springs, thrust pads and
balls.
Important: Convex face of thrust pads (2)
faces operating sleeve.
Insert synchronizer into operating sleeve halfways.
Press in balls far enough that synchronizer can
be pressed into operating sleeve.
