REPLACING TENSIONING AND SLIDING RAILS
- Timing Case Covers Removed -
Remove timing chain 11 31 051.
Take off water pump and alternator.
Installation: Replace gasket (1).

Remove lockwashers (2 ... 4).
Bend up cylinder head gasket slightly and pull
off tensioning rail.

Pull down sliding rail and swing it to the right.
Unscrew bearing pin (5).

Swing sliding rail to the left and pull it off.

- TIMING CHAIN REMOVED -
Unscrew water pump and console.
Installation:
Replace gasket (1).

Remove lock washers (2 --- 4).

Swing in and remove tensioning rail.

Unscrew bottom bearing bolt (5) and swing the guide rail aside.

Pull off guide rail.
