Vehicles before change point in 1982 REPLACING CYLINDER HEAD GASKET Remove cylinder head 11 12 100. Clean mating surfaces on cylinder head and crankcase thoroughly. Installation: Only use original cylinder head gaskets having matching coolant holes. Stamped Identification: BMW 630 CSi/633 CSi = 3.0/3.0 E/3.2 E. After machining a cylinder head either a gasket of original thickness or one thicker by 0.3 mm (0.012´´) to prevent reducing the volume of the combustion chamber can be installed. This gasket could also be used to eliminate engine knock caused by grade of fuel. Drawing Number Stamped in Area of Timing Case Cover: BMW 630 CSi/633 CSi - 1 269 240.4 or 1 269 241.1. 11 12 100
Important: Pack holes with Dirko sealant before mounting timing case cover. Installation: If necessary, grind down cylinder head mating surfaces - 11 12 719. 11 12 719
Vehicles after change point in 1982 REPLACING CYLINDER HEAD GASKET Remove cylinder head 11 12 100. Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head and crankcase with a sealant remover** and hard wood scraper. Check levelness with a standard steel ruler, grinding cylinder head sealing surfaces if necessary - see 11 12 719. Installation: Only unse original cylinder head gaskets, of which opening for coolant match preciseley. Stamped Identification:

Important! A 0.3 mm (0.012")thicker gasket can be used on a ground cylinder head, to avoid reducing the specified combustion chamber size. This gasket may also be used, if poor fuel grade is causing engine knock. Important! Coat bores with a brush-on universal sealant / Three Bond Silicon 1207** prior to installation of the timing case cover. ** Source: HWB |
