REPLACING COOLANT TEMPERATURE TRANSMITTER Pull off wires and unscrew temperature transmitter. Installation: Replace seal. Tightening torque¹). Add coolant. Important: Don´t mix up wires. Brown/white wire to large plug terminal. Brown/violet wire to small plug terminal. ¹) See Specifications
Installation: Degrees (1)¹) for temperature gauge and switching-in point (2)¹) for indicator lamp are stamped on hexagon. ¹) See Specifications
Checking: A) Temperature Gauge: Pull off large plug from transmitter for temperature gauge and connect with ground. Turn on ignition briefly. Transmitter is defective, if temperature gauge needle deflects to red range. If needle does not deflect, defect could be in power supply wire or instrument cluster.
B) Indicator Lamp: 1. Pull off small plug on transmitter and connect with ground. Indicator lamp in instrument cluster should come on. If not, defect could be in power supply wire or light bulb. 2. Remove transmitter. Hold transmitter in a water bath up to the hexagon. Heat water to 115 ... 121°C (240 ... 250°F) and measure resistance at small plug with an ohmmeter. If there is no resistance, transmitter is defective. |
