REMOVING AND INSTALLING/
REPLACING HYDRAULIC UNIT
ASSEMBLY FOR ABS
Disconnect battery ground lead.
Unscrew coolant expansion tank.

Detach front left, front right, rear left and rear
right brake lines.
Installation:
Front left line to left front caliper.
Front right line to right front caliper.
Rear left line to left rear caliper.
Rear right line to right rear caliper.
Don´t mix up lines (mark them)!
Important!
Keep lines and connections clean (insert plugs).

Detach brake lines (1 and 2).
Installation:
Line (1) to brake master cylinder at front.
Line (2) to brake master cylinder at rear.
Caution!
Catch escaping brake fluid and keep it off of
clothes and paint finish.
Never reuse drained brake fluid.

Unscrew bolt (3) and take off cover.
Loosen (don´t unscrew) nuts (4 and 5).

Unscrew bolts (7 and 8), pull off multiple pin
plug and disconnect ground wire.
Pull up front of hydraulic unit and disconnect
rear; remove hydraulic unit.
Installation:
Check code number when replacing hydr. unit
(also refer to Service Information of Gr. 34).
Bleed brakes 34 00 046.
Check ABS function with BMW service test
