OVERHAULING REAR CALIPER
(use repair kit)
Remove and install rear caliper - 34 21 220.
Remove rear brake pads.
Remove clamping ring (1) and rubber cap (2).
Installation: Apply a light coat of ATE
cylinder paste to inside of rubber caps.

Hold piston with Special Tool 34 1 050.
Place felt or hard wood plate in caliper recess.
Press out piston with compressed air applied
through connecting bore.
Cover open piston bore with a sealing plate
and insert a plug into connecting bore.
Press out second piston with compressed
air applied through bleeder bore.
Important: Be careful, since 10 bar (140 psi)
has a force of about 1250 N (275 lbs.).

Lift out seals with a plastic needle.

Important: Parts may be cleaned only with
brake fluid or spirits.
Dry with compressed air.
Check cylinder bores and pistons for damage.
Always replace damaged parts.
Apply a light coat of ATE brake cylinder paste
to cylinders and pistons to facilitate installation
and protect against corrosion.
Install piston in cylinder bore carefully.
Don´t cant.

Check 20° position of piston with Special
Tool 34 1 100.
Correct with Special Tool 34 1 060 if
necessary.
20° shoulder of piston faces brake disc inlet.
