Pull off flasher relay with holder. |  |
Detach headlight flasher and windshield wiper switch. |  |
Remove shear-off screws (2) with a chisel or similar tool. |  |
Remove shear-off screw (1) with a chisel or similar tool. |  |
Unscrew setscrew (3). Installation: Lock setscrew with paint. |  |
Press down on steering column and pull out steering lock. Installation: Check positioning of steering lock and ignition switch to each other. |  |
Since 1986 Models: Disconnect battery ground lead. Remove steering wheel - 32 33 000. Remove steering column casing.  32 33 000

Take off flasher relay. Pull off plug on horn contact. Remove switch. Installation: Mount both ground wires (1). Use cruise control switch screw (2) = M 5 x 15. Retainers of switch must engage in hole (3). |  |
Remove collar ring (1). Installation: The recess in collar ring (1) is provied to hold snap ring (2). |  |
Remove snap ring (1), washer (2), spring (3) and ring (4). Installation: Stem of ring (4) faces the bearing. |  |
Installation: Mount (hammer knock) snap ring (1) with Special Tools 32 3 052 and 32 3 050. |  |
Press down locking hook and remove ignition switch. |  |
Lift out steering spindle bearing with a screwdriver. Installation: Drive in bearing with Special Tool 00 5 550. |  |
Remove shear-off screw (1) with a chisel. Pull steering lock with casing upper section off of the outer tube. Installation: Tighten Torx E 8 shear-off screw with Special Tool 32 3 120. |  |
Press down lock with a screwdriver. Turn key against stop and pull out the lock cylinder. |  |
Drill out rivets and screw carbon contact (1) on the new steering lock. |  |
