REMOVING AND INSTALLING EGR REACTORS
The reactor functions on the principle of selfignition
and must be checked for cracks and
burns every 25,000 miles (or 30,000 miles from
1980 models on).
The actual time for checking is released by an
interval switch and shown on instrument panel.
Press in contact button (1) on interval switch
after completion of inspection or replacement
of reactors.

Remove air flow sensor with air cleaner housing
13 62 000.
Remove heat shield.
Detach lines (2 and 3).

Remove entire exhaust system 18 00 020.
Remove exhaust gas filter 11 71 020.
Detach front and rear reactors at cylinder head.
Installation: Replace gaskets.
