REPLACING HEATER BODY (heater removed) Pull out left and right plastic rivets (1). Take connectors out of retaining pins (2).
Open fasteners. Remove housing upper section and outer inlet frames. Installation: Flat surfaces on inlet frames face down.
Open fastener. Disconnect wires and lift out blower motor. Installation: Turn motor until lock engages.
Remove foam rubber seal (1). Remove clamp (2) and detach water valve (3) at heater body. Supply tube (4) remains on water valve. Installation: Check o-rings and replace them if necessary.
Take clip off of right pocket. Remove pocket.
Take lock off of connector and remove gear wheel. Pull out connector. Installation: Note installed position of gear wheel. Mark (M).
Pull off part of foam rubber and take all clips off of housing. Remove housing halves carefully.
Installation: Install both air flaps in bearing bores and gear wheels.
Press out wire grommets and pull out wires between heater body tubes. Remove heater body. Installation: Paste new foam rubber seal on heater body with an appropriate adhesive.
Vehicles after change point in 1982 REPLACING HEATER CORE - HEATER REMOVED - Pull off air guides (1 ... 4).
Push back retaining bar (3) and remove blower shells (1 and 2).
Installation: Flat surfaces on inlet cowls faces body.
Lift off all retaining clips on heater housing (13 clips). Take housing sections apart.
Installation: Make sure that bearings of distributor flaps (1 ... 4) are located in bearing bores.
Remove heater core (1). Installtion: Paste new foam rubber frame on heater core.
