REPLACING BOTH SUN ROOF DRIVE CABLES
A) Electric Sun Roof:
Remove and install front roof liner plate
51 44 150.
Remove and install sun roof lid 54 12 100.
Loosen screws and take off cover plate.
Installation: Opening in cover plate faces forward.

Install cover plate mounting screws in pinion and
pull out pinion.

Loosen screws (1 ... 3) and press down gearbox
slightly.

Remove lock and take gate holder off of guide.
Installation: Lubricate linkage for gate holder
with a light coat of grease.

Take off guidepins and deflector plate.
Push guide forward and pull drive cables out of
guide tube.
Installation: Lubricate guide and cables with a
light coat of grease.

Installation: Rear edge of gate holder must be
2 mm (0.080´´) ahead of mark on guide rail.
Tighten gearbox screws in this position.

Installation: Mark (M) on large pinion should
be opposite outer edge of housing.
Pinion must lock in bore (B).
Only tighten gearbox screws in this position.

B) Manual Sun Roof:
Remove and install sun roof lid 54 12 100.
Remove and install manual gearbox for sun
roof 54 12 230.
Remove lock and take gate holder off of guide.
Installation: Lubricate linkage for gate holder
with a light coat of grease.

Take off guidepins and deflector plate.
Push guide forward and pull drive cables out of
guide tube.
Installation: Lubricate guide and cables with a
light coat of grease.

Installation: Rear edge of gate holder should be

Tighten gearbox screws in this position.
