Place Special Tool 51 3 000 in "assistant" and install windshield. | |
Pull on rubber frame. Installation: Coat rubber frame with glycerine. | |
Place ornamental strips in rubber frame, starting at center. See 51 31 000 for further procedures. 51 31 000 | |
Vehicles after change point in 1982 RREPLACING WINDSHIELD The rubber frame is cemented on the body and window glass. The rubber frame has to be destroyed when replacing the windshield. Detach windshield wiper arms. Pull off left and right edge guards partially. Lift out window beam trim at top and pull out. | |
Cut off rubber frame. Remove windshield glass and ornamental strips. Remove rest of rubber frame. | |
Check condition of ormamental strips, replacing if necessary. Place new windshield glass in body opening with several pieces of an old rubber frame to hold. Distance (A) between glass and body must be approx. 9 to 10 mm (0.354 to 0.394´´) all around. | |
Place Special Tool 51 3 000 in the "Assistant" and lay window glass on it. | |
Pull on rubber frame. Installation: Coat rubber frame with glycerine. | |
Press ornamental strips into rubber frame, beginning at center. | |
Pull an approx. 3 mm (0.118´´) dia. cord or wire into lips of rubber frame. Ends of cord or wire must cross on one side by length of about 30 cm (12´´). | |
Place pre-assembled window in body opening and prevent it from sliding sidewards. Pull rubber frame over edge of body with pulled in cord or wire. Apply uniform knocks on window with an impact pad or flat hand while installing to position window glass correctly. | |
Fill upper and lower lips of rubber frame with a window glass cement uniformly all around. |
