REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRAY
Disconnect ground wire at battery.
Detach and attach instrument panel trim at
bottom left 51 45 180.
Remove ashtray.
Unscrew screws.

Detach grill for heater and air conditioner, and
remove toward rear.

Open zipper.
Unscrew rear screw.
Lift cover, and pull off plugs on switches for
electric windows and ashtray light.
Remove cover.

Cars with Automatic Transmission:
Lift out cover for selector lever.

Unscrew rear screw.
Lift cover.
Pull off plugs from switches for electric
window controls and ashtray light.
Remove cover.

Unscrew shelf mounting screws at front
and rear.

Remove cigar lighter and hazard light
switch, and disconnect wires.

Unscrew screws and remove holder plate,
possibly with radio.
Disconnect wires on radio.

Unscrew left and right screws.
Pull back shelf a little and remove strut.
Remove shelf toward rear.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING
CENTER CONSOLE
Remove instrument panel trim at bottom left
- see 51 16 200.
Unscrew screw.
Take off cover.
Pull off plug, if applicable.

Lift out covers.
Unscrew screws.
Push back trim panel slightly.

Lift out ashtray.
Pull off shift lever knob (1).
Take off shift lever dust cover (2).
Unscrew screw.

Cars with Automatic Transmission:
Lift out mask.
Unscrew screw (1).
Unscrew screw.
Pull off power window plugs.
If applicable, disconnect plug on EH
transmission switch.

Disconnect plugs.

Unscrew screws on left and right sides.

Lift center console.
If applicable, pull off plugs.
Remove center console.
