Improper handling could cause unwanted activation of SRS and in turn lead to injury!@L Disconnect battery and cover negative pole or terminal. Lift cap out of lower steering column casing section and disconnect plug. | |
Pull off plug and remove SRS unit. Caution! Only lay the SRS unit aside (in trunk) with the impact pad facing up. Installation: Be careful not to pinch the wires. | |
Move steering wheel to straight ahead position (marks on steering gear and steering spindle aligned). Unscrew nut and remove with washer. Important! The steering wheel can only be pulled off after unlocking the steering lock. | |
Installation: Lockpin (1) must engage in opening (2). Replace self-locking nut. Tightening torque*. * See Specifications | |
Note: Loosening the nut activates spring lock (1), which holds the contact ring in center position. | |
Adjusting Center Position When Necessary. Press down spring (1). Turn contact ring clockwise or anticlockwise against stop. Turn back about 3 turns until the arrows for center position are aligned. Release spring (1). |
