ADJUSTING THROTTLE SWITCH
The throttle switch delivers information on idle
and full throttle to the control unit.
A) Adjusting with BMW Service Test Unit or
Bosch Tester No. 0 684 100 202.
Refer to the pertinent operating instructions.

Loosen both screws and adjust throttle switch
that in neutral position "O" the reading will be
"oo" for partial throttle and "O" again in full
throttle position.
The idle contact must open immediately when
operating the throttle.

Version with Separate Idle and Full Throttle
Switches:
Connect ohmmeter on idle switch.
Loosen both screws and adjust switch that in
neutral position of the throttle "O" and in
partial throttle range "oo" is shown.
When operating the throttle the reading must
change immediately from "O" to "oo".

ADJUSTING THROTTLE VALVE SWITCH
Checking Throttle Valve Switch:
There must be approximately 0 ohm between
connections 2 and 18 with the throttle valve
closed.
There must be approximately 0 ohm between
connections 3 and 18 with the throttle valve
wide open.
LL = Idle speed
VL = Full load

Adjusting:
There must be approximately 0 ohm between
connections 2 and 18 with the throttle valve
closed.
Adjust by loosening screws (1) and turning
the throttle valve switch.
Open the throttle valve after finishing the
adjustment - the resistance value should go
to oo ohms immediately.
The resistance value must drop again to
approximately 0 ohm when releasing the
throttle valve.

Adjusting Idle Speed Switch:
Pull off the rubber cap.
Pull off plugs (1 and 2).
Connect an ohmmeter on plug connections.
Loosen screws (4 and 3).
Turn the switch until the ohmmeter displays
approximately 0 ohm.
Tighten screws (4 and 3).
The idle speed switch must switch immediately
and have an ohm value of about oo ohms
when operating the throttle valve.

Checking/Adjusting Throttle Valve Potentiometer
Pull off multiple-pin plug on transmission
control unit.
Connect test adapter with test leads between
the control unit and wire harness.
Turn on ignition.
Accelerator pedal in full load position including
kickdown.
Transmission Control Unit:
Measure and note power supply voltage between terminals
9 (+) and 6 (-).
Measure and note power supply voltage between terminals
7 (+) and 6 (-).
The adjusting voltage must be 0.22 ± 0.04 V less than the power supply voltage.

Adjusting:
Loosen screws (2) on the throttle valve
potentiometer and turn the throttle valve
potentiometer.
- Checking Function of Potentiometer:
The voltage on the testing connection of the potentiometer must rise linearly to the adjusting
value when opening the throttle valve from the idle speed stop to the full load stop.
- The throttle valve lever must bear on the full load stop when the accelerator pedal is floored
(including kickdown).
