In BDC position place Plastigage Type PG 1 on crankshaft wiped clean of oil. Connecting rods and bearing caps are marked with the same pair number (0 .. 99). All pair number codes must be on the same side in one engine. Mount connecting rod bearing caps. Tightening torque*. Important! Don't turn connecting rods or crankshaft. Remove bearing caps. Check bearing play* by measuring width of flattened Plastigage with the supplied scale. Correct bearing play by installing new bearing shells, bearing shells of different machined size or with different color codes.
